Generally the beam elements mean the slender material longitudinally.
It means the longitudinal length of material is longer than section area of the material.
It is called slenderness ratio or aspect ratio.

These type beams have been used as material for construction like main structure for skyscraper and shipbuilding & many plants.
And then, these beams are exposed to various load intentionally or unintentionally such as the force like green sea and wind induced by nature.
Regardless of various load type, as effort to the study of many engineer and scalars, the load imposed on the beam elements can be defined as below.
일반적으로 빔 요소는 길이방향으로 가느다란 재료를 말한다.
즉, 재료의 세로길이가 단면적보다 길다는 것을 의미한다.
이러한 재료의 특징을 세장비라고 한다.
이런 유형의 빔요소들은 각종 산업에 사용되며 예를 들어 고층빌딩이나 공장, 선박등의 주요 골재로 사용된다.
그리고 이런 빔들은 외부로부터 각종 하중에 노출되는데, 선박의 Fore body에 작용하는 Green sea 나 고층빌딩에 작용하는 풍하중 등이 그 예다.
이러한 하중의 종류에 관계없이 빔 요소에 가해지는 하중은 방향에 따라 다음과 같이 정의할 수 있다.
